When Warm Audio turned their attention to microphones with the WA-87, they set a high goal: to produce one of the most iconic large diaphragm multi-pattern FET condenser microphones in history.
Now, with the WA87 R2, Warm Audio has made its modern classic better than ever. The Warm Audio WA87 R2 features a sleek new design with a rounded grille, an optimized metal construction and performance improvements that include a true cinemag transformer.
The WA87 R2 can be used for anything, with world-class results. It's great for vocals - it makes drums sound huge. It is the ideal choice for any acoustic instrument - strings, brass, woodwinds or percussion. Its three polar patterns further enhance the already impressive versatility of this microphone.
The WA87 R2 is equipped with high-quality, fully discrete components such as NOS fairchild transistors, WIMA/Nichicon capacitors and a true Cinemag output transformer from the USA. The microphone also features a reproduction of the famous K-87 double diaphragm/double backplate capsule used in the 87s. High quality parts and components make for a superior sounding microphone with an excellent price/performance ratio!
